Understanding GivingFridays
Learn what GivingFridays is, how the platform works, and how donors and organisations are connected through consistent giving.
GivingFridays is a non-custodial Islamic giving technology platform designed to make sustained giving easier for donors and more predictable for participating organisations.
Built around meaningful times such as Fridays and Fajr, GivingFridays helps turn the intention to give into consistent acts of goodness over time. For organisations, it provides greater visibility of giving already scheduled ahead, helping them build more sustainable donor relationships.
At its heart, GivingFridays is about connecting acts of goodness through the blessing of time.
GivingFridays creates value for both donors and participating organisations.
Choose a participating organisation or campaign, select how much you would like to give, and choose whether to Give Now or Automate My Giving. For scheduled giving, you decide the amount, frequency and giving schedule. You remain in control and can cancel future scheduled donations at any time.
GivingFridays provides visibility of active giving schedules, helping organisations forecast future giving with a higher level of accuracy and plan programmes and resources with greater confidence. Organisations can create campaigns, understand donation activity and available donor information, and engage their donors to strengthen relationships over time.
GivingFridays manages the schedule and technology — not the donation funds. The applicable payment provider processes the transaction towards the recipient organisation.
GivingFridays was founded in Singapore and is growing across Southeast Asia, with operations and market development across Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
GivingFridays combines one regional technology platform with local payment infrastructure, partnerships and market requirements. Available organisations, payment methods and certain platform features may therefore differ by country.
You can browse participating organisations and campaigns on the GivingFridays platform without logging in.
When you are ready to donate, you will need to log in or create an account. This allows GivingFridays to create your personal dashboard, maintain your donation history and, where applicable, allow you to view and manage your scheduled giving.
You can access the GivingFridays giving platform at app.givingfridays.com .
From there, you can browse participating organisations and campaigns, log in to make a donation, view your donation history and manage your applicable giving schedules.
Plan Your Giving, Your Way
Learn how to give, create a giving schedule, manage future donations and understand when your scheduled giving is processed.
GivingFridays offers two ways to give:
Schedule your giving in advance by choosing the amount and frequency that works for you. GivingFridays manages the schedule, with scheduled donations generally processed around Fajr.
Make an immediate one-time donation to a participating organisation or campaign.
Simply browse the participating organisations and campaigns, choose where you would like to give, and select the giving option that suits you.
Select Automate My Giving, choose the organisation or campaign you want to support, enter your donation amount, and select your preferred frequency and giving dates.
You choose when and how often you want to give. GivingFridays determines the processing time automatically, with scheduled donations generally processed around Fajr.
You remain in control of your schedule and can cancel future scheduled donations at any time.
Your donation will be processed on the day or date specified in your giving schedule , generally around Fajr.
GivingFridays currently initiates scheduled transactions between approximately 6:00–6:30 AM in Singapore and Malaysia, and at approximately 6:00 AM WIB in Indonesia.
GivingFridays sends the scheduled transaction to the applicable payment provider for processing. Actual completion or settlement timing may vary depending on the payment provider and payment method.
You can view and manage your active giving schedules through your GivingFridays dashboard.
No. When you use Automate My Giving, the total value of your giving schedule is not charged upfront.
Each donation is processed individually according to the frequency and giving dates you selected.
If you schedule $10 every Friday for 10 Fridays, the donations are processed as 10 separate $10 donations according to your schedule, rather than a single $100 charge upfront.
You can cancel future scheduled donations at any time. An existing giving schedule cannot currently be edited. If you would like to change the amount, frequency or giving dates, cancel the existing schedule and create a new one.
Cancelling your schedule stops future donations that have not yet been processed. Donations that have already been processed cannot be reversed by cancelling the schedule.
You can view your donation activity and transaction status through your GivingFridays dashboard.
GivingFridays does not send an email for every successful donation because the payment transaction is processed by the applicable payment provider. Depending on the provider, you may receive a successful payment confirmation directly from them. For example, PayPal and 2C2P currently provide payment notifications , while notification services may differ for other payment providers.
If a scheduled donation fails to process, GivingFridays will send an email notification to the donor so that appropriate action can be taken.
Donation limits may vary depending on the payment method, payment provider and country .
Where a minimum or maximum amount applies, the GivingFridays platform will indicate the applicable requirement during the donation process.
GivingFridays only displays organisations and campaigns that have been onboarded onto the platform.
If the organisation you would like to support is not currently listed, you can let us know. We welcome introductions to mosques, yayasan, NGOs and community organisations that may benefit from GivingFridays.

Tax deductibility depends on the recipient organisation and the country in which the donation is made .
In Singapore, where a participating organisation is eligible to provide tax-deductible donations, GivingFridays allows the donor to provide the information required for the recipient organisation to process the tax deduction, such as their full name, identification number, email address and mobile number.
The relevant information is provided to the recipient organisation, which is responsible for processing the tax deduction in accordance with the applicable requirements. GivingFridays does not issue the tax-deductible receipt or determine the donor's eligibility for tax relief.
Tax-deductible donation functionality is currently not offered through GivingFridays in Malaysia or Indonesia .
Clear, Secure Payment Processing
Understand how donations are processed, where the funds go, how platform fees work, and the role of our payment providers.
No. GivingFridays operates as a non-custodial platform. GivingFridays does not hold the donation funds intended for recipient organisations.
GivingFridays manages the giving experience and, for scheduled giving, the donation schedule. The applicable payment provider processes the transaction towards the recipient organisation according to the payment arrangement in that market.
Available payment methods depend on the country, recipient organisation and applicable payment provider.
Depending on availability, payment methods may include options such as cards, PayPal, PayNow or QRIS. The payment methods available for your donation will be displayed on the GivingFridays platform before you confirm the donation.
For scheduled giving, the available payment method must also support the applicable recurring or scheduled payment arrangement.
GivingFridays works with payment providers according to the country and payment method being used.
Current payment providers include PayPal and 2C2P in Singapore, PayPal and SenangPay in Malaysia, and DOKU in Indonesia .
The payment provider available for a particular donation may depend on the recipient organisation, payment method and local payment arrangements.
Yes. An applicable GivingFridays platform fee may apply to a donation.
The applicable platform fee is displayed clearly during the donation process before you confirm your donation. Where available, you may be given the option to either cover the platform fee or deduct it from your planned donation amount.
The platform fee is added to the amount charged to you, allowing the planned donation amount to remain available for the recipient before any applicable payment-provider charges.
The platform fee is deducted from the planned donation amount, so the amount available to the recipient is reduced by the applicable platform fee before any applicable payment-provider charges.
If your planned donation is SGD 100.00 and the platform shows an applicable fee of SGD 0.75, choosing to deduct the fee would show a planned recipient amount of SGD 99.25. Choosing to cover the fee would instead show a total planned donor amount of SGD 100.75, with SGD 100.00 planned for the recipient, before any separately applicable payment-provider fees.
Platform fee calculations may be rounded according to the platform's calculation rules and applicable payment provider requirements.
Any applicable payment-provider fees are separate from the GivingFridays platform fee and may vary according to the payment method, provider or recipient arrangement.
Payment transactions are processed through the applicable payment provider.
Where a payment method needs to be available for future scheduled donations, the relevant payment credentials or payment authorisation are handled through the applicable payment-provider arrangement rather than GivingFridays holding your donation funds.
GivingFridays retains the information required to operate your account, giving schedule and donation records in accordance with its applicable privacy and operational requirements.
A scheduled donation may fail for reasons such as an unsuccessful payment authorisation, an expired or unavailable payment method, insufficient funds, or a payment-provider processing issue.
If a scheduled donation fails to process, GivingFridays will send an email notification to the donor. GivingFridays does not send this failed-payment notification to the recipient organisation.
You can also log in to your GivingFridays dashboard to review your donation activity and the relevant transaction status.
Build Giving That Keeps Going
Learn how organisations can join GivingFridays, create campaigns, engage donors and gain greater visibility of giving already scheduled ahead.
GivingFridays is designed for mosques, yayasan, NGOs, charities and community organisations that want to build more consistent giving and stronger donor relationships.
To be onboarded, an organisation must meet the applicable requirements in its country and have an approved payment provider that can be connected to GivingFridays .
This is an important part of our non-custodial model, where donation funds are processed towards the organisation rather than being held by GivingFridays.
Additional regulatory licences or approvals may also be required depending on the organisation and country.
The first step is to ensure your organisation meets the applicable local requirements and has an approved payment provider supported by GivingFridays.
For Indonesia, organisations must also hold the applicable licences or regulatory approvals required for their fundraising activities.
Once the required payment-provider account and applicable approvals are in place, your organisation can register with GivingFridays, complete the required onboarding information and sign the applicable platform agreement. GivingFridays will then activate your organisation on the platform and connect the required payment arrangements.
Organisations can contact our team directly or attend one of our recipient webinars when available to learn more about onboarding.
The documents required depend on the organisation type, country, payment provider and applicable regulatory requirements.
Organisations may be asked to provide information such as their registration details, authorised representative information, bank account details and supporting documents required for verification and payment processing.
Additional licences, approvals or supporting documents may be required depending on the organisation and jurisdiction.
Our team will advise your organisation of the applicable requirements during onboarding.
Yes. Participating organisations can create campaigns for specific causes, programmes or fundraising needs.
GivingFridays supports two campaign approaches:
Donors can choose how much they would like to contribute.
The organisation can provide predefined donation amounts for donors to choose from.
This allows organisations to structure each campaign according to their fundraising needs while giving donors a clear and simple way to contribute.
Yes. Participating organisations can access relevant donor information for donations made to them.
The donor's GivingFridays account email address is provided to the recipient organisation. If the donor has added a mobile number to their account, this may also be provided.
Organisations can also export available donor and donation data in CSV format to support donor records, engagement and administration.
Recipient organisations are responsible for handling donor information in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements.
The GivingFridays dashboard gives participating organisations visibility of their donation activity and scheduled giving.
Organisations can view their current month's performance and yearly information covering the current year, the previous two years and the next two years , helping them understand both past donation activity and giving already scheduled ahead.
The dashboard also provides visibility of transaction statuses, including successful, pending, cancelled and failed transactions , allowing organisations to monitor donation activity and identify potential follow-up opportunities.
GivingFridays provides visibility of scheduled donations ahead. This helps organisations see support that donors have already planned, supporting better forecasting and programme planning.
Yes. Participating organisations can post updates about their activities, campaigns and impact through GivingFridays. These updates can be displayed on the organisation or campaign page, helping donors stay informed and engaged over time.
Organisations can also use the donor information available to them, subject to applicable data-protection requirements, to support their own donor engagement.
Yes. Participating organisations can export available donor and donation data from GivingFridays in CSV format.
The export can include donation details, donor information and transaction status, allowing organisations to maintain their own records, analyse their donor base and support appropriate donor follow-up.
The organisation remains responsible for handling and using exported donor data in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements.
GivingFridays provides visibility not only of donations already received, but also of giving that donors have already scheduled ahead.
This allows participating organisations to see expected future contributions and plan with a higher level of confidence. The dashboard provides forward visibility across future periods, helping organisations with programme planning, resource allocation and fundraising decisions.

First, log in to your GivingFridays account and check the relevant donation or transaction status in your dashboard.
If the issue relates to a giving schedule, you can cancel the schedule to stop future, unprocessed donations. Cancelling a schedule does not reverse donations that have already been processed.
For account or scheduling issues, contact GivingFridays. If the issue relates specifically to payment processing, assistance from the applicable payment provider may also be required because GivingFridays does not hold or process donation funds itself.
Provide the relevant donation or transaction details so we can help identify the issue. Never send your verification code, card details or other payment credentials to GivingFridays support.
You can contact GivingFridays through our Contact Us page or via WhatsApp for help with donor accounts, scheduled giving, organisation enquiries or general platform questions.
