On 18th October, NCSS in collaboration with NVPC – Towards a City of Good, jointly engaged boards and senior leadership of NPOs on volunteer management.

The session, titled “Volunteer Committee: How Board Leadership Can Transform Your Volunteer Management Strategy” saw over 60 participants attending, to learn how leaders can play a part in building the volunteer management capabilities of their organisations.

​​The Guest-of-Honour was Mr. Eric Chua (Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) and Ministry of Social and Family Development, Singapore (MSF)), who discussed in his welcome speech how volunteer management is a core function and a vital resource strategy to catalyse transformation plans and secure whole-of-organisation’s strategic outcomes.

The participants heard from the distinguished panel of speakers at the event, namely Mr. Kurt Wee (Board Member, Singapore Children’s Society ), Mr. Go Ashokh Menon (Board Director, CCF Singapore) and Ms. Karen Wee (Board Member, SATA COMMHEALTH), together with volunteer panel moderator, Mr. Mohamed Irshad (Vice Chairman, Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA) Volunteer Management Committee).

The event brought forward great insights into how the Volunteer Committees can give strategic guidance and play a more prominent role in strengthening volunteer management within organisations.

Mr. Hairmann Hayak, the founder of Giving Fridays, looks forward to working closely with such boards and senior leadership in the road ahead to take quantum leaps toward volunteer management to catalyse national volunteerism.

The goal of such events and conferences is to collaborate on taking Singapore and Singaporeans forward.
