Frequently Asked Questions

Donor

A person who is a registered user of GivingFridays, who gives funds to a Recipient is a Donor.

The Donor’s funds must not be proceeds from serious crimes or criminal sources.

The Donor will receive a payment notification for every successful transaction via your registered email.

First, you have to be a registered user of GivingFridays.com.

The Donor must have a valid credit/debit/Visa/Master card. This is a critical condition of MAS Payment Service Act as “identifiable source” for compliance with Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) requirements. There will be no cash withdrawal and successful funds transaction are non-refundable.

Donor needs to register with payment gateway and update resident location. We need this information to determine if it’s a domestic or cross border transaction.

When you sign up at https://app.givingfridays.com/auth/signin, the website will determine your location based on your IP address. You will only be able to donate to recipients within your own country. For example, if you register with GivingFridays from Singapore, your account will automatically be set to Singapore. You will need a domestic PayPal account in order to make donations, as cross-border payments are not supported.

If you need to change your account location, please contact support@givingfridays.com.

No, we do not keep or have access to your credit/debit card details. After you schedule your donation, upon activation, you will be directed to the payment gateway portal for confirmation and authorization of your donation schedule.

They are not listed because they have not applied to be listed as a Recipient on our platform. In order to be listed, they need to be:

▫ A legitimate entity.
▫ On boarded by the payment gateway.
▫ Authorize us to list their organization.

You can do your part by informing your recipient to contact us at support@givingfridays.com

Each Recipient has the option to set the minimum sum per transaction prior to allowing each donor to request for a receipt directly to them. Once the Recipient has exercised that option, the minimum sum will be reflected in the create donation’s page.

In the event the option is not exercised, each donor will receive email notification from the platform and payment gateway.

If the donor still wishes to get a receipt directly from the Recipient, they may use the platform transaction ID and email to the Recipient directly.

Alternatively, if the recipient subscribed to an organization that can provide accounts reconciliation from data extracted via the payment gateway, automatic issuance of receipts can be executed.

If the Recipient qualifies for tax deduction [as a Institution of Public Character (IPC)], donor has the option to “opt in” or “opt out” of the tax deduction scheme. If donor chooses to opt in, they will have to submit mandatory information like their full name, NRIC and contact details. This information is provided to the recipient for further processing.

FYI, mosques in Singapore are not an IPC and therefore do not qualify for tax deduction.

Platform

GivingFridays.com is a donation scheduler; it is powered by GivingFridays Pte. Ltd. Via its platform, it enables its users to continue fulfilling his or her aspiration to donate despite not being present at the desired facility.

Scheduled donations to any mosque or preferred organization (Recipients) are consciously and automatically done, via a payment configurator to the Recipient either every Friday or any other auspicious dates.

Registered users will have access to useful dashboards on payments and projected donation.

GivingFridays is not registered with Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY-CU). We are a service provider regulated by Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA).

The pandemic forces us to think and act differently. There are many similar websites, but none more superior in scheduling donations and forecasting future income for the Recipients. We are the first to offer scheduling on the best of days, every Friday.

Our founder has more than 25 years experience in customer engagement in Asia Pacific; he created GivingFridays to provide a convenient, automated donation and forecasting platform for both the donors and recipients.

In due time GivingFridays.com will be able to reach all Recipients globally.

Once Donor creates their donation schedule on GivingFridays.com, upon activation, GivingFridays will release the Donor donation schedule via an Application Programming Interface (API) to the payment gateway portal for payment. Donor will be redirected to payment gateway for payment confirmation.

Based on the API received from GivingFridays, payment gateway will execute the API instruction and release Donor funds to Recipient payment gateway connected account. Donor funds are transferred directly to Recipients account and do not flow through GivingFridays’ account or bank account. GivingFridays collects its Platform fees from the payment gateway.

Recipient has control over when to withdraw the funds from Recipient payment gateway account to Recipient Bank account.

GivingFridays is a global partner of the payment gateway and provides one of the lowest cost per dollars transacted in scheduled donations. Our payment gateway is one of the largest payment institutions in the world, they are PCI compliant.

Mission: To provide a convenient, automated scheduler for the users and a forecasting platform for the Recipient.

Vision: The best donations scheduler for you.

You can send an email to support@givingfridays.com.

The average response time is approximately 3-7 days.

For Donors:
Domestic Transaction: (for the moment available for Singapore & Malaysia market only)
A transaction occurring when both the Donor and Recipient are registered with or identified by GivingFridays as residents of the same market.

Platform Fee: Singapore: 0.5% + SGD 0.25 & Malaysia 0.5% + MYR 0.75, payable towards the usage of our website, dashboard and the donation scheduler/forecast.

Cover the Fees:
We provide the option to “Cover” or “Deduct” the platform fees.
“Cover”: You pay additionally for the platform fees, 100% of the funds donated are transferred directly to the Recipient connected account. This option is useful when you are placing on behalf of others.
“Deduct”: The platform fees are extracted from the funds donated; the balance of the funds are transferred directly to the Recipient account.

Upon doing so, 100% of the original scheduled funds are transferred directly to the Recipient. Platform fee is calculated on the total amount paid. If the Donor choose to “Deduct” the platform fee option, the platform fee is then deducted from the scheduled amount and the balance of the funds is directly transferred to the Recipient. Recipient shall receive the amount after deducting the applicable platform fee.

The platform fees are always calculated on the total amount paid and calculation limited to 2 decimal points.

The donation starts at SGD $2 & MYR 5. However, to make use of economies of scale, we do encourage a minimum of SGD $5 & MYR 15 and a maximum limit of SGD $10000 & MYR 10000 per transaction.

The Recipient has the option to create their “purpose of donation”. Once created, the purposed will be listed in the drop-down list in the “create donation” page.

GivingFridays does not dictate how the Recipient utilize your donations.

All successful donations made through GivingFridays are non-refundable. Donations made to a Recipient will be for that organization only and there shall be no replacement or substitution of donations between organizations.

If the Recipient qualifies for tax deduction [Recipient is an Institution of Public Character (IPC)], donor has the option to “opt in” or “opt out” of the tax deduction scheme. If donor chooses to “opt in”, they will have to submit mandatory information like their full name, NRIC and contact details. This information is provided to the Recipient for further processing.

The campaigns should be sensitive to the beliefs, values, and cultural practices of the Muslim community. Avoid any content that may offend or cause harm to individuals or groups within the community. Exercise cultural sensitivity when selecting images, messages, and language.

Ensure that the campaigns do not discriminate against any individual or group based on their race, ethnicity, gender, or any other protected characteristic. Promote inclusivity and diversity within the Muslim community.

When creating campaigns for charitable purposes, ensure compliance with applicable charity laws and regulations. Provide accurate and transparent information about the objectives, beneficiaries, and impact of the campaign.

Once a campaign is activated, no changes can be made to the fields. Therefore, carefully review and double-check all campaign details before activation to avoid any errors or misinformation.
