NVPC’s Centre for Non-Profit Leadership held its eighth Board Connect Forum of 2022. The objective of the conference was to enhance and reinforce transparency of charity initiatives through blockchain technology.

Many internationally renowned charitable organisations have embraced blockchain technology to boost transparency and enabled donors to track how their funds/gifts are deployed. This helps ensure accountability to all stakeholders.

As blockchain technology continues to gain popularity and acceptance in Singapore, it will not be surprising when the younger generation assesses the causes they support and whether such organisations deploy blockchain as an effort to boost transparency and accountability.

With the emergence of various charity platforms and initatives, it has become increasingly important for charity boards at all levels to understand how they can embrace and implement blockchain as an effective means of making all transactions transparent and secure for users. The goal is to gain public’s confidence in projects related to charity. When people pay for a certain noble or social cause, they want to be sure that their money is going into the right hands.

In this Board Connect Forum, charity boards were also made aware of the risks of using blockchain and how to mitigate them while adopting the technology.

Many non-profit leaders were engaged in person. Notable among them were Mr Lim Soon Ying, Dr Xavier Chan, Dr James Ong, Ms Elysa Chen, and Mr Hairmann Hayak.
