The Malay Muslim community, comprising approximately 13% of Singapore’s population, is an integral part of modern Singapore’s formative years. The community has come a long way and accomplished plenty. Many Malay Muslims have made significant progress over the past decade, with higher household incomes, and more attaining higher educational qualifications and doing well at work.

However, while progress is significant, challenges remain an uphill battle toward comprehensive community development. There are worrying trends when it comes to aspects like home ownership and education.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the community embraced tough decisions and adapted to challenges posed by the virus and the subsequent lockdown policies. Mosques were shut down and the pilgrimage was postponed. Such adjustments from the community were only possible due to the support its members gave to the religious leaders and medical experts.

The community was economically vulnerable even before the pandemic began and is now at greater risk of retrenchments and diminished incomes. But it has always supported the measures taken by the Government and reflected the same attitude toward the national efforts of the Government in addressing and tackling the coronavirus.

It is now your turn to provide your support to this community. If you are vested in the Malay Muslim community, love to attend and volunteer at events that favor the community, and like making donations to the MMOs, Giving Fridays is just the platform for you.

You can now contribute to the benefit of your fellow Malay Muslims and help the noble causes of the MMOs in a more efficient way. Send them donations through Giving Fridays so that these fellow Muslim brothers and sisters do not lose their precarious economic foothold in a shrinking economy.
