Frequently Asked Questions

Donor

The term Donation includes all voluntary contributions, sponsorships, support or purchases made through the GivingFridays platform.

All Donations are made voluntarily, are generally non-refundable once completed, and are subject to the legal, regulatory and compliance requirements of the jurisdiction in which the campaign or transaction is conducted.

Donors acknowledge that GivingFridays acts as a facilitation and technology platform, and is not responsible for any legal, tax or regulatory implications arising from a Donation, or for how funds are ultimately applied by the Recipient.

A Donor is a registered GivingFridays user who gives funds to a Recipient through the platform. Donor funds must not come from criminal sources or proceeds of serious crime. Donors will receive notifications for successful transactions through their registered email, where applicable.

To be a Donor, you must first create an account with GivingFridays.

Depending on your country and the Recipient, you may use PayPal, credit card, debit card, PayNow, QRIS, DuitNow or other supported local payment methods.

You may also need to update your country or resident location. This helps us determine whether the transaction is domestic or cross-border, especially for PayPal donations.

When you sign up with GivingFridays, your location may be determined from your IP address or selected during your account setup.

Your location helps GivingFridays determine which Recipients, campaigns, currencies and payment methods are available to you. It may also affect whether you are allowed to donate domestically or cross-border, depending on local laws, payment gateway rules and the Recipient’s eligibility.

For PayPal-supported donations, a domestic PayPal account may still be required in certain markets. Your selected location will also determine the currency used in your dashboard and charts.

If you need to update your account location, please contact support@givingfridays.com

No. GivingFridays does not store or have access to your credit card, debit card, or e-wallet details. Payment details are handled by the relevant payment gateway or payment method provider.

Donors may access dashboard views such as monthly and yearly summaries, trends, monthly transactions and accumulated transactions. Donors may also view donation cards for draft, pending, active, completed and cancelled donations, where available.

An organisation may not be listed because it has not applied to be listed as a Recipient, has not completed payment gateway onboarding, or has not authorised GivingFridays to list it on the platform.

You may invite the organisation to contact GivingFridays at support@givingfridays.com.

Tax deduction rules depend on the country, local regulations and the Recipient’s eligibility.

Where applicable, GivingFridays may provide donors with the option to submit their details, such as name, identification number and contact information, to the Recipient for tax deduction or receipt purposes.

GivingFridays does not determine tax eligibility and does not guarantee that a tax deduction will be approved or processed. The Recipient is responsible for reviewing, processing and submitting any tax deduction claim in accordance with local laws and requirements.

For Singapore, tax deduction is generally applicable only where the Recipient qualifies as an Institution of Public Character (IPC).

Platform

GivingFridays is an award-winning regional donation scheduling and fundraising platform, operated by GivingFridays Pte. Ltd., a private company headquartered in Singapore.

The platform helps donors schedule and automate their giving to approved mosques, non-profit organisations and community campaigns. Donors can give on Fridays, selected dates, or other supported schedules, while recipients can access dashboards to track donations, campaigns and projected giving.

GivingFridays acts as a technology and service platform. Donations are processed through approved payment gateway partners and are paid directly to the selected Recipient, subject to the applicable payment method and gateway rules.

GivingFridays was created to make consistent giving easier, more intentional and more impactful.

For donors, it helps automate donations on meaningful days and times, such as Fridays, Fajr, without needing to remember each time. For recipients, it provides a structured platform to receive, track and forecast donations more effectively.

GivingFridays aims to be a gamechanger for mosques, NGOs and community organisations by combining automated giving, campaign fundraising, donor convenience, payment gateway integration and useful dashboards in one platform.

Our greater purpose is to help communities build a more sustainable, transparent and consistent way of giving.

GivingFridays helps donors schedule, automate or make donations to approved Recipients through our platform.

When a donor creates or activates a donation, GivingFridays sends the payment instruction securely to the relevant payment gateway partner. Depending on the country, Recipient and payment method, this may include PayPal, 2C2P, DOKU or other supported gateways.

GivingFridays operates on a non-custodial model. This means donor funds are processed by the payment gateway and paid directly to the selected Recipient, subject to the payment gateway’s settlement process. Donor funds do not flow through GivingFridays’ bank account.

GivingFridays collects its applicable platform fees separately, where supported by the payment method and gateway setup.

Our payment gateway partners are expected to comply with applicable payment security standards, including PCI DSS or equivalent requirements. Recipients can use their dashboard to track donations, campaigns and projected giving.

The charging time depends on the type of donation, selected schedule, country, payment method and the relevant payment gateway’s processing rules.

For scheduled donations, GivingFridays aims to send the payment instruction during the early morning Fajr/Subuh window, which is considered one of the best times for giving. As a guide, this is usually around 6:00 AM Singapore and Malaysia time, and around 5:00 AM WIB Jakarta time for Indonesia.

For Instant or Give Now donations, the payment is charged at the time the donor submits, confirms or approves the donation through the relevant payment method or payment gateway.

Once the instruction is sent, the actual charge is processed by the relevant payment gateway. If a scheduled charge attempt is unsuccessful, the system or payment gateway may attempt to process it again, subject to the payment method and gateway rules. If the transaction remains unsuccessful, it may be marked as failed.

When your donation schedule is completed, GivingFridays may send you an email with an option to renew your donation.

You may also log in to your GivingFridays account, go to My Donation History, select the completed schedule ID, click Renew, and continue from there.

Once you are logged in, go to the Dashboard page to access your dashboards.

Yes. Once you are logged in, go to the Dashboard page, select the chart you wish to download, click the menu icon on the top right of the chart, and choose one of the available download options.

A domestic transaction is when the Donor and Recipient are from the same country or market.

A cross-border transaction is when the Donor and Recipient are from different countries or markets.

GivingFridays may support domestic or cross-border donations depending on the country, local regulations, Recipient eligibility, currency, payment method and payment gateway rules.

Some payment methods, such as PayPal, may require the Donor and Recipient to be in the same market or to use a domestic account. Where cross-border donations are supported, they will be made available through the relevant payment gateway and subject to its terms.

No. GivingFridays will process donations based on your selected schedule.

For example, if you schedule $10 every Friday for 15 weeks, the full $150 is not charged upfront. Instead, the relevant payment gateway processes the scheduled amount according to your donation schedule, subject to the applicable payment method and gateway rules.

There are generally two types of fees that may apply when using GivingFridays.

Platform Fee is charged by GivingFridays for the use of our platform, including donation scheduling, campaign tools, dashboards, reporting and related services. The platform fee may differ by country, currency, payment method or campaign type.

Payment Gateway Fee is charged by the relevant payment gateway, such as PayPal, 2C2P, DOKU or other supported gateway partners. These fees may differ depending on the country, payment method, currency, Recipient type and the gateway’s own pricing rules.

GivingFridays and the payment gateway are separate parties. Payment gateway fees are not controlled by GivingFridays and may change according to the relevant payment gateway’s terms.

GivingFridays supports more than one payment gateway and payment method. Fees may differ depending on the country, currency, Recipient, payment gateway and payment method used.

GivingFridays’ platform fees will be shown when you create or schedule your donation. Examples may include Singapore at 0.5% + SGD 0.25, Malaysia at 0.5% + MYR 0.80, and Indonesia at 5%, subject to the latest published rates on the platform.

Payment gateway fees are separate from GivingFridays’ platform fees. Each payment gateway may charge different rates for local cards, foreign cards, debit cards, credit cards, PayNow, QRIS, DuitNow, e-wallets or other supported payment methods.

Payment gateway fees are generally paid by the Recipient and deducted from the Recipient’s settlement amount by the relevant payment gateway.

The final applicable fees will depend on the selected Recipient, country, payment method and payment gateway rules at the time of transaction.

GivingFridays may charge platform fees for the use of our platform, including donation scheduling, campaign tools, dashboards, donor management, reporting, white-label pages, promo codes, additional campaigns and related services.

Platform fees may differ depending on the country, currency, Recipient size, campaign type, payment method and selected service package. Where applicable, setup fees, campaign fees, white-label fees or other service fees may also apply.

For donors, GivingFridays may provide the option to Cover or Deduct platform fees.

Cover means the donor pays the platform fee in addition to the donation amount, so the intended donation amount is sent to the Recipient, subject to payment gateway deductions.

Deduct means the platform fee is deducted from the donation amount, and the balance is sent to the Recipient, subject to payment gateway deductions.

The applicable platform fees will be shown on the platform or communicated to the Recipient before use.

GivingFridays may provide donors with the option to Cover or Deduct platform fees.

Platform fee calculations may be rounded according to the platform’s calculation rules and the applicable payment gateway requirements.

Yes. Minimum and maximum donation amounts may differ depending on the country, currency, Recipient, campaign, payment method and payment gateway.

The applicable minimum or maximum amount will be shown on the platform when you create or schedule your donation.

The Recipient may create its own donation purposes, which will appear on the platform where applicable.

GivingFridays does not decide how the Recipient uses the funds received. The use of funds is the responsibility of the Recipient and should be aligned with the stated purpose, campaign description, applicable laws and the Recipient’s own governance requirements.

You may cancel any future scheduled donation from your GivingFridays account.

Log in to https://app.givingfridays.com, go to Donate, then My Donation, select the relevant donation card, click Donation Setting, then choose Cancel this donation.

Only future donations can be cancelled. Successful donations that have already been processed are generally non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another Recipient.

If you need to cancel on behalf of someone else, please contact support@givingfridays.com. Supporting documents may be required.

Tax deduction rules differ by country and depend on the Recipient’s eligibility under local laws.

Where applicable, GivingFridays may allow you to submit your details, such as your name, identification number and contact information, to the selected Recipient for tax deduction or receipt purposes.

GivingFridays only provides the platform for collecting and sharing this information with the Recipient. The Recipient is responsible for reviewing, processing and submitting any tax deduction claim in accordance with the applicable local requirements.

GivingFridays does not determine tax eligibility and does not guarantee that any donation will qualify for tax deduction.

GivingFridays works with approved payment gateway partners to process donations securely. Depending on the country, Recipient and payment method, donors may pay using supported options such as PayPal, credit card, debit card, PayNow, QRIS, DuitNow or other local payment methods.

Before a Recipient can receive donations, the Recipient must be registered, verified and onboarded by the relevant payment gateway. The payment gateway may carry out required checks, including Know Your Customer checks, Enhanced Due Diligence, Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism screening, and other compliance checks required by law or gateway policy.

Once a Donor creates and activates a donation or schedule, GivingFridays sends the payment instruction securely to the relevant payment gateway for processing. The payment gateway then processes the payment and settles the funds directly to the selected Recipient, subject to its settlement process.

GivingFridays operates on a non-custodial model. This means donor funds do not flow through GivingFridays’ bank account.

GivingFridays does not store or have access to the Donor’s card, e-wallet details. Payment gateway partners are expected to comply with applicable payment security standards, including PCI DSS or equivalent requirements.

Successful donations, sponsorships or contributions made through GivingFridays are generally non-refundable.

GivingFridays operates as a platform and does not control how Recipients use funds after the funds have been processed and settled to them.

For genuine cases, you may contact the Recipient and appeal your case directly using your GivingFridays donation ID and payment gateway transaction ID. GivingFridays may assist by providing relevant transaction references where available, but we do not guarantee that a refund will be approved.

You may cancel future scheduled donations at any time from your GivingFridays account. This will stop future unprocessed donations, but it will not reverse donations that have already been successfully processed.

You can check the status of your donation from your GivingFridays account.

Go to My Donation and view the transaction status linked to your GivingFridays Donation ID and payment gateway transaction ID. You may also click on the relevant GivingFridays Donation ID to view the schedule details.

For successful transactions, you may receive email notifications from GivingFridays and/or the relevant payment gateway.

GivingFridays can provide a donation summary for your records, especially once your schedule is completed. However, GivingFridays is not able to issue an official donation receipt because we are not the custodian or beneficiary of the Recipient’s funds.

If you need an official receipt, you may contact the Recipient directly using your GivingFridays Donation ID and payment gateway transaction ID.

Payment Gateway

GivingFridays works with approved payment gateway partners to process donations securely. Depending on the country, Recipient and payment method, our supported gateways and payment options may include PayPal, 2C2P, DOKU, SenangPay, PayNow, QRIS, DuitNow, credit cards, debit cards and other local payment methods.

The available payment gateway or payment method may differ by country, currency, Recipient eligibility and gateway rules.

GivingFridays does not store donors’ card or e-wallet details. Payment processing is handled by the relevant payment gateway, which is expected to comply with applicable payment security standards, including PCI DSS or equivalent requirements.

Payment gateway fees, settlement timelines and available payment methods may differ between gateways and may change according to the relevant gateway’s terms.

Yes. Your payment is processed through the relevant approved payment gateway, not directly by GivingFridays.

GivingFridays does not store your card or e-wallet details. Sensitive payment information is handled by the payment gateway according to its own security standards and compliance requirements.

GivingFridays works with approved payment gateway partners and local payment methods. Each payment gateway has its own safety, security, compliance, buyer protection, seller protection, fraud prevention, data protection and payment processing policies.

Depending on the country, Recipient and payment method used, you may refer to the relevant payment gateway’s official safety or compliance information:

PayPal buyer and seller protection: https://www.paypal.com/sg/digital-wallet/security-and-protection
2C2P accreditations and compliance: https://2c2p.com/accreditations/
DOKU security and licences: https://docs.doku.com/security/licenses

For local payment methods such as PayNow, QRIS, DuitNow, credit cards, debit cards or e-wallets, the applicable safety rules, transaction limits, dispute process and protection policies may depend on the relevant bank, wallet provider, payment gateway and local regulations.

Payment gateway fees may include a percentage fee, a fixed transaction fee, or both. The actual fees may differ depending on the country, currency, payment method, donor locality, Recipient status, Recipient size, and the relevant payment gateway’s pricing rules.

Payment gateway fees are generally charged by the payment gateway to the Recipient and deducted from the Recipient’s settlement amount. Donors do not pay the payment gateway fees separately, unless otherwise stated by the payment gateway or payment method.

Payment gateway fees are determined by the payment gateway and are generally an arrangement between the Recipient and the payment gateway. GivingFridays does not control these fees.

GivingFridays will do its best to select and collaborate with payment gateway partners that provide strong value, secure payment processing, and suitable payment options for donors and Recipients.

Recipient

Recipients are approved organisations listed on GivingFridays that can receive donations, sponsorships or contributions through the platform.

To be listed as a Recipient, the organisation must be a legitimate entity, meet GivingFridays’ eligibility requirements, be verified and onboarded by the relevant payment gateway, and authorise GivingFridays to list the organisation on the platform.

GivingFridays is currently available for eligible Recipients in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, and may expand to other countries in the future.

To be listed as a Recipient on GivingFridays, your organisation must be a legitimate entity, meet GivingFridays’ eligibility requirements, and be verified and onboarded by the relevant payment gateway.

Depending on your country and available payment methods, the payment gateway may include PayPal, 2C2P, DOKU, SenangPay, HitPay or other approved gateway partners.

Based on local laws and regulations, the Recipient may also need to apply for, hold, or provide evidence of the necessary licences, permits, registrations or approvals before receiving donations, sponsorships or contributions through the platform.

GivingFridays will guide eligible organisations through the onboarding process. We may send an introductory email to the relevant payment gateway and include the required documents or information needed for the application.

The payment gateway may carry out its own checks, including Know Your Customer checks, Enhanced Due Diligence, Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism screening, and other compliance checks required by law or gateway policy.

The required documents may differ depending on the country, organisation type, payment gateway and local regulations. Matters relating to the Recipient’s payment gateway account, approval, rates, settlement and verification will be handled directly between the Recipient and the relevant payment gateway.

To register as a Recipient with GivingFridays, your organisation must first create a GivingFridays account at https://app.givingfridays.com/auth/signin and provide the required organisation details.

The information required may include your registered legal name, display name on the platform, country, organisation type, contact person, registered email address, Recipient status, tax or licence status where applicable, and the payment gateway details needed to connect your account.

The required payment gateway details may differ depending on the gateway used. For PayPal, this may include the Recipient’s PayPal primary email address. For other payment gateways such as 2C2P, DOKU, SenangPay, HitPay or other supported gateways, this may include the Recipient merchant ID, settlement account ID, bank settlement ID, or other gateway-issued account references.

Based on local laws and payment gateway requirements, the Recipient may also need to provide supporting documents, licences, permits, registrations, bank details, authorisation letters, or other compliance information.

Once the required information is completed and the relevant payment gateway setup is approved, GivingFridays will configure the Recipient profile on the platform. The Recipient can then access the dashboard, create campaigns where available, track donations and manage their account.

.

When your organisation registers with GivingFridays, your location will be set based on your country or market.

Your location helps GivingFridays determine the applicable currency, available payment methods, payment gateway setup, local compliance requirements, and how your dashboard and charts are displayed.

For example, Recipients in Singapore may see dashboard values in SGD, Recipients in Malaysia may see values in MYR, and Recipients in Indonesia may see values in IDR.

If you need to update your organisation’s location, please contact support@givingfridays.com.

The required documents depend on the country, organisation type, payment gateway and local regulations.

Examples may include organisation registration documents, licences or permits, authorisation letters, bank details, identity documents of authorised persons, proof of address and other compliance documents requested by the payment gateway.

Please refer to the FAQ on registering as a Recipient with a Payment Gateway or contact support@givingfridays.com for guidance.

Yes. As a Recipient, you may create donation purposes from the Purposes menu, where available.

A good purpose should be clear, simple and suitable for long-term use. The purpose should also fit within the platform’s display requirements, especially on mobile devices. Examples may include General Purpose, Education Sponsorship or Operating Expenses.

You may only delete purposes that do not have attached scheduled donations.

Yes. As a Recipient, you may create campaigns from the Campaigns menu, subject to your package, eligibility and GivingFridays’ campaign guidelines.

GivingFridays supports two main types of campaigns:

1. Campaigns without preset amounts: Donors can enter their own donation amount.

2. Campaigns with preset amounts: Recipients can display suggested donation amounts, such as $10, $50, $100 or other approved amounts, to make it easier for donors to contribute quickly.

When creating a campaign, you may be required to provide details such as the campaign title, description, target amount, closing date, images, purpose, preset amounts where applicable, and other campaign information.

All campaigns must comply with applicable laws, payment gateway rules, licensing requirements, copyright rules, community standards and GivingFridays’ platform guidelines. GivingFridays reserves the right to reject, suspend or remove campaigns that are inaccurate, misleading, inappropriate, unlawful or not aligned with our platform requirements.

Where available, Recipients may access donor and transaction information through the GivingFridays dashboard and export relevant data in CSV format for purposes such as reporting, receipt handling, reconciliation or tax-related processing.

Any personal data downloaded or accessed by the Recipient must be handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws, GivingFridays’ Privacy Policy and the Recipient’s own data protection obligations.

Recipients may access dashboards that show useful donation and campaign information, including monthly and yearly summaries, trends, transaction views, rolling projections and the status of successful, pending, cancelled or failed transactions, where available.

Tax deduction rules differ by country and depend on the Recipient’s eligibility under local laws and regulations.

Where applicable, GivingFridays may provide donors with the option to submit their details, such as name, identification number, email address and contact information, to the selected Recipient for tax deduction or receipt purposes.

GivingFridays only provides the platform feature to collect and share the donor’s details with the Recipient, based on the donor’s consent. The Recipient is responsible for reviewing, processing and submitting any tax deduction claim in accordance with the applicable local requirements.

GivingFridays does not determine tax eligibility and does not guarantee that any donation will qualify for tax deduction.

GivingFridays sends appropriate email notifications to donors and recipients, such as donation summaries, failed transaction notices, cancellation notices, last donation reminders, and completed schedule notifications.

For every successful transaction, the relevant payment gateway may also send a payment notification to the Donor and Recipient, depending on the gateway’s process.

GivingFridays is not able to issue an official donation receipt because we are not the custodian or beneficiary of the Recipient’s funds. Donor funds are processed by the payment gateway and settled to the selected Recipient.

If a Donor requires an official receipt, the Donor may contact the Recipient directly using the GivingFridays Donation ID and payment gateway transaction ID.

If your organisation wishes to withdraw from GivingFridays or be removed from the platform, please send an email to support@givingfridays.com with the necessary official notification letter.

Once the request is reviewed and accepted, GivingFridays will assist to remove or deactivate your organisation from the platform.

After withdrawal is completed, no new donations can be made to your organisation through GivingFridays. Existing future scheduled donations to your organisation may also be cancelled or deactivated, subject to GivingFridays’ operational process and the relevant payment gateway requirements.

Yes. GivingFridays reserves the right to accept, reject, suspend, deactivate or cancel a Recipient’s registration on the platform.

This may happen if the Recipient no longer meets GivingFridays’ eligibility requirements, breaches our platform terms, fails payment gateway or compliance requirements, provides inaccurate information, is involved in activities that may create legal, regulatory, reputational or operational risk, or for any other reason deemed necessary by GivingFridays.

If your organisation is suspended, deactivated or delisted, GivingFridays may notify you through your registered email address. Once delisted, your organisation may no longer be able to receive new donations through the GivingFridays platform.

Recipients are encouraged to keep their organisation records, supporting documents, licences, permits, bank details, contact details and payment gateway account information accurate and up to date.

Payment gateways may suspend, pause or restrict a Recipient’s account if the Recipient fails to provide required documents, does not complete verification, has outdated information, or does not meet the gateway’s compliance requirements.

GivingFridays encourages every Recipient to maintain a valid and active payment gateway account and to respond promptly to any request for additional information or supporting documents.

If a Recipient’s payment gateway account is suspended or paused, donations to that Recipient may be affected until the issue is resolved with the relevant payment gateway.

Sponsored Fulfilment Campaigns

A sponsored fulfilment campaign is a campaign where supporters contribute towards a stated fulfilment target, such as sponsoring meals, food packs or other approved items.

For example, GivingFridays may run a campaign to sponsor Chicken Briyani meals for distribution after Jumaat prayers. In this type of campaign, you are not buying the item for yourself. You are sponsoring the item so that GivingFridays can arrange fulfilment and delivery to mosques, recipients, community groups or beneficiaries selected by GivingFridays.

Sponsored fulfilment campaign payments are generally non-refundable once made. This is because GivingFridays may use the collected sponsorships to plan vendor arrangements, food preparation, packaging, logistics and fulfilment.

If GivingFridays has started procurement, vendor confirmation, food preparation, packaging, logistics arrangement or delivery, the sponsorship becomes non-refundable.

If there is a fulfilment issue, you may contact us at support@givingfridays.com, and we will review the matter based on our Refund Policy and Statement: https://givingfridays.com/refund-policy/

If a sponsored fulfilment campaign does not meet its stated target by the campaign closing date, GivingFridays may, at its discretion, extend the campaign period, proceed with partial fulfilment, or provide the collected quantity, collected value, or reasonable equivalent fulfilment to a mosque, recipient, community group or beneficiary selected by GivingFridays.

This ensures that every contribution continues to support the spirit and purpose of the campaign, even if the full target is not reached.

GivingFridays may appoint third-party vendors, suppliers, caterers or delivery providers to prepare, pack, supply or deliver sponsored food or items. GivingFridays will use reasonable care in selecting vendors.

Food preparation, ingredients, taste, packaging, portioning, delivery handling and quality are primarily the responsibility of the appointed vendor. If there is a concern about food quality or fulfilment, GivingFridays may assist the supporter to raise the claim or complaint with the relevant vendor and provide reasonable updates where available.
