We are delighted to announce the addition of Masjid Hj Muhd Salleh, a Singapore-based mosque, to our community of organizations dedicated to making a difference. GivingFridays is a charity portal committed to fostering generosity and compassion, and we are thrilled to collaborate with Masjid Hj Muhd Salleh in supporting their mission of serving the local community.

What They Do

For many Muslims, the mosque holds a special place, serving not only as a house of worship but also as a hub for community activities, spiritual guidance, and social welfare. Masjid Hj Muhd Salleh deeply understands this significance and has been actively engaged in community service for over five decades. Since its establishment in 1866, the shrine of the esteemed Muslim saint Habib Noh Al-Habshi and the adjacent Haji Muhammad Salleh Mosque have stood as a spiritual oasis in the city.

Throughout the years, these two architectural treasures have endured challenges such as tidal submersion, the impact of World War II, land developments, and the threat of demolition. Despite the tests of time, the shrine and parts of the mosque now require significant repairs and restoration due to their weakened state. Therefore, plans are underway to renovate and refurbish these sacred spaces, with an estimated cost of three million dollars. Our primary goal is to ensure the comfort, convenience, and safety of all visitors.

Masjid Hj Muhd Salleh offers a wide range of programs and services that encompass religious education, outreach initiatives, and social welfare support. They provide diverse classes and workshops catering to both adults and children, host community events and festivals, and extend aid to those in need through their welfare services.

Masjid Haji Muhammad Salleh, situated in bustling Singapore CBD, is flanked by Keppel Viaduct on its left and Mount Palmer on its right. Built in 1903, the mosque’s construction was initiated by Haji Muhammad Salleh, a Batavia merchant, in honor of his late friend Habib Noh who frequented Mount Palmer for seclusion and prayers.
